26th May 2015

For youngsters who are up for the challenge, CLGC will be hosting the Wandsworth Tri-Golf Tournament on Thursday 4 June from 9.30am until 1.30pm. More than 10 local schools have entered their pupils for a chance to represent Wandsworth in the London Youth Games. Local schools taking part include:

  • Allfarthing
  • Gatton
  • Broadwater
  • St George's
  • Honeywell
  • Penwortham
  • Griffin
  • Chesterton
  • Belleville
  • Holy Ghost
  • St Josephs
  • Sacred Heart

Tri-Golf is designed to promote golf to young players and it involves the use of specially designed equipment - popular with children and affordable for schools.

The new version of golf aims to get children, active and away from their game consoles and tablets. Michael Anscomb said: “It is an activity that is fun, inclusive and can engage pupils previously disengaged from traditional team sports delivered in schools. The sport is also known to promote honesty and respect among its players, and sportsmanship and good behaviour follows.”

The CLGC is also offering Tri-Golf workshops for schools that are eligible for funding to subsidise golf coaching.
